Linton Hall School Celebrates 90th Anniversary
Reverend Bishop Paul S. Loverde of Arlington, Virginia, celebrated Mass at Linton Hall School in Bristow, Virginia on March 21st to commemorate the school's 90th Anniversary. Many alumni were in attendance including Jim Dayhoff who was a 1941 graduate of Linton Hall School. Mr Dayhoff said that he came because he wanted to let the Sisters know they would be "proud" of the lives they have changed. He said that when he came to LHS in the 5th grade he couldn't read. One year later Mother Alphonse had him reading at grade level!

S. Cecilia Dwyer Gives Invocation |
|
On January 23 Sister Cecilia Dwyer, Prioress, gave the invocation at the Virginia State Senate. Both Linton Hall School, Bristow, and Saint Gertrude High School, Richmond, were recognized for their 90th anniversaries. |
Invocation |
Loving God, God of the Universe, God of compassion, Giver of Life,
We entrust our beloved Commonwealth of Virginia to your gentle care.
You are the rock on which our nation was founded.
You guide and govern everything with order and love.
You alone know the longings of people’s hearts.
We ask your blessing upon all gathered here this day.
Look upon this assembly of our Virginia Senators and
fill them with the spirit of Your wisdom.
Open their minds to the great worth of human life and the responsibilities that accompany human freedom.
Inspire their deliberations in all ways for the good of the citizens of Virginia.
May these women and men always act in accordance with Your will and may their decisions be for the peace and well-being of all.
We ask our prayers of the Holy One who listens to us always
with the ear of the heart. AMEN. |
New Postulant, New Scholastics, New Professed!! |
It's over - three days of great joy and grace! Soon, you will all meet our postulant, Julia Elena Abdala. She is a wonderful addition to our community and is looking forward to classes and instruction. Our Sister Kathleen Persson made her Perpetual Monastic Profession - the promise of life-long fidelity to our monastic way of life. Sister Karen Lynn Trespacz renewed her monastic profession for one more year, and Sister Lilliane Normand began the transfer process - a three-year shift of her stability to this monastery - at the same liturgy. Then, Sisters Joanna, Shirley and Andrea made their First Monastic Profession on Sunday evening. Five ceremonies in one holiday weekend! For the liturgist it was like Easter all over again! I guess "alleluia" is the right response to the bounty of new life in our midst. Praise GOD from whom all blessings flow and thank you to ALL who pray for vocations to religious life.
