1868 Legacy

On May 1, 1868, two Benedictine Sisters from St. Joseph Monastery in Pennsylvania came to Richmond, Virginia, to found what was to become the Benedictine Sisters of Virginia Community.

Today, we sisters continue to serve local needs through programs for the homeless, adult literacy, spiritual direction, and pastoral care. Our commitment to education endures through Linton Hall School, a co-educational Catholic school serving children preschool age through grade 8. Our monastery grounds have always offered hospitality for those seeking quiet and peace.

By including the sisters in your estate plan, you will provide ongoing support for the sisters’ community, ministries, and monastery for generations to come.
