In seeking ways to be of service to our Northern Virginia neighbors, we discovered a need for more interment space for the cremains of loved ones.
In response to this need, we established the Place of Peace Columbarium, a sacred ministry for those in immediate need and those who want to pre-plan.
Situated amid beautiful and quiet gardens, this place of peace invites solitary contemplation as well as being a welcoming space for gatherings of family and friends.
To be able to walk with those preparing for eternal life and to extend Benedictine hospitality and comfort to those who are grieving is a privilege we hold dear.
The Columbarium
Five polished gray granite free-standing circular units surround a central grieving angel statue. Currently, the two five-foot units (80 niches each) and seven-foot split unit (320 niches) are sold out. However in March 2023, two seven-foot units were added providing 288 additional niches. Each niche is designed for two urns. Donated polished gray granite benches provide a place for quiet reflection and to memorialize loved ones. Our price includes the niche space, all engraving for two, openings/closings, and perpetual care. Please contact us for current prices.
Services / Visiting
Your needs at this difficult time are our highest priority. Discussions with you will guide your personalized interment planning. Clergy are warmly welcomed, as are your guests, whether small or large groups. Each year we hold a Columbarium Memorial Service in November to remember and honor our beloved dead. Visiting the Columbarium is encouraged from dawn to dusk each day. Parking is on-site, and the area is accessible to all with stamped asphalt walkways and welcoming prayer signs. While here, you may also want to visit our other sacred spaces, including gardens, labyrinth, and prayer silos.
We welcome people of all faith traditions.
Please consider a visit to our monastery and the Place of Peace Columbarium!
